The Great House at Sonning has announced the appointment of Mark Ashton as the hotel’s new general manager.
Ashton is set to continue to establish The Great House as one of the leading hotels in the south-east, following the hotel’s successful launch earlier this year.
As general manager, Ashton will be responsible for the management of the newly-refurbished 49 room property, the hotel’s versatile event space The Great House Lodge, as well as overseeing all operations and teams within the hotel.
With over 16 years of experience specialising in the management of hotels, Ashton’s wealth of knowledge of the industry combined with his hands on approach ensures that he is perfectly positioned to lead the team at The Great House at Sonning.
Following a degree in hotel and catering management from the University of Surrey, Ashton began his career at the Athenaeum Hotel & Apartments on Piccadilly where he re-launched the entire food and beverage operation.
Following this, Ashton became general manager at Tylney Hall Hotel and Aviator, a Hotel by Tag subsequently.
Most recently, Ashton has been lecturing in hospitality management and service delivery at the University of Surrey.
Commenting on his new appointment at The Great House, Ashton enthused: “I am thrilled to be joining the talented team at The Great House.
“The hotel has had an extremely successful first few months of trading since its re-launch and I am proud to be part of the property’s next chapter and look forward to more exciting projects to come in 2018.”
