airBaltic to launch new departures to Ukraine and Kazakhstan this summer | News


airBaltic will improve its service to Ukraine for the summer season by increasing frequencies from Odessa to Riga up to six weekly flights.

The new departures will launch on March 25th.

In addition, the Latvian airline will continue to offer multiple daily frequencies between Kiev and Riga.

Wolfgang Reuss, senior vice president network management, airBaltic, said: “We are happy to see a strong demand for our Odessa-Riga services since the launch of the route last spring.

“Thus in summer season 2018 airBaltic will offer improved schedule of the route with 36 per cent more seats, best flexibility and convenient transit flights from Odessa via Riga to its network spanning the Baltic states, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and the Middle East for business and leisure travellers alike.”

airBaltic carried a total of 113,564 passengers in 2017 to and from Ukraine, up by more than half compared to 2016.

Both Ukrainian routes from Odessa and Kiev offer convenient connections via Riga to airBaltic network.

airBaltic launched flights between Riga and Odessa on in March last year, operating a mix of Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400NextGen on the route.

The flight is scheduled to last two hours 30 minutes.

Almaty

At the same time, airBaltic has confirmed it will launch a new summer route between Riga and Almaty in Kazakhstan.

The first flight will take off on April 29th.

Martin Gauss, chief executive of airBaltic, said: “We are now the first northern European airline to launch direct flights to Almaty, which is a vibrant city in the heart of Kazakhstan.

“Riga-Almaty will be the second longest flight on our network.

“We are delighted to offer our European passengers a new and exciting destination in CIS.”

airBaltic will fly from Riga to Almaty three times weekly.

Passengers will board a Bombardier CS300 aircraft for a flight that will last approximately five hours and 15 minutes.
