South African Tourism has launched a brand new social media initiative to help agents to effectively sell the country.
The organisation’s new series of five Facebook Live videos, dedicated to providing travel agents with insider insights on the destination, will be hosted by representatives from South African Tourism and will be broadcast via its UK & Ireland Travel Trade Facebook page each month.
Each video will focus on one region of the country with a special guest offering top tips on the best experiences for holidaymakers.
A live question and answer session will allow travel agents to engage directly with South African Tourism and the special guest to receive instant responses to any burning questions they might have.
Broadcast at the end of June, the first Facebook Live centred on the Eastern Cape and has already gathered more than 2,500 views.
The next video on the Western Cape will air at 09:30 tomorrow, with expert knowledge from Inge Dykman from WESGRO (the tourism, trade and investment agency of the Western Cape) on how to sell this popular province.
The next three Facebook Live videos will be broadcast on August 28th, September 25th and October 30th and cover KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, the North West and the Northern Cape.
Tolene Van der Merwe, hub head, UK & Ireland, South African Tourism, said: “Our travel trade strategy for 2018 has consistently been to ensure that we are engaging with and supporting the UK and Irish travel trade wherever possible to encourage growth from these markets.
“As the UK is our number one source of international arrivals and Ireland represents a fantastic opportunity for growth, it is vital that we work hard to drive visitor numbers from these two countries in order to achieve our overarching global goal of attracting five million more tourists to South Africa within the next five years.”
