Marco Pierre White takes helm at P&O Cruises Cookery Club | News

Renowned British chef Marco Pierre White has been named as the new patron of The Cookery Club on P&O Cruises flagship Britannia.

From this September, White will take on a new role with P&O Cruises.

As the patron he will be closely involved with Britannia’s pioneering Cookery Club, giving guests the unique opportunity to cook with and learn from the very best in the business.

He will be on six cruises in 2019 and has designed year-round classes and menus.

Marco, the youngest ever chef to be awarded three Michelin stars, is no stranger to life on the high seas as the 56-year-old Yorkshireman has worked closely with P&O Cruises for the last 12 years.

White said: “Teaching is my passion, it is about telling stories and inspiring confidence.

“The simplest dish, cooked well and using great local ingredients, will create love round the dining table.

“My classes in The Cookery Club on Britannia arm guests with tips and knowledge so that they can prepare dishes for friends and family which look and taste wonderful.”

Guests wishing to get ‘hands on’ will be able to book a place on the ultimate cooking experience, joining Marco’s Hosted Masterclasses when he is travelling on Britannia.

From seafood risotto to the perfect Sunday roast, Marco will teach guests to cook restaurant quality meals before enjoying the dishes together at the chef’s table.

P&O Cruises senior vice president, Paul Ludlow, said: “Marco is a true legend who shaped modern British food and we are delighted that he will now take this lead role in The Cookery Club.

“Our guests will have the opportunity to learn from him and even have their supper cooked by him. There’s nowhere else in the world that this happens and as a memory for a foodie it has to be second to none.”
