Air Europa expands Boeing Dreamliner order | News

Air Europa has increased its investment in Dreamliner long-haul aircraft.

In a major $3.5 billion investment in new aircraft announced in 2015 the target was for 22 Dreamliner aircraft to be delivered by 2022 – this has now been increased to 27 Dreamliners by 2022.

In the first phase of the fleet rejuvenation eight Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft were delivered.

The second fleet phase commenced in February 2018 with the arrival of the first two Boeing 787-9, with a further five now set to be delivered between April and December 2019, and a further twelve aircraft introduced progressively between 2020 and 2022.

The Boeing 787-9, like the 787-8, combines a comfortable interior with an exceptional environmental performance.

The aircraft has greater passenger and load capacity, reduces emissions by 20 per cent and has an acoustic impact 60 per cent less than other planes of its size.

The Air Europa Dreamliner fleet also offers Gate to Gate connectivity which allows the passenger to connect to Wi-Fi during the entire flight.

Air Europa UK director, Colin Stewart, said: “The success of Air Europa’s ambitious fleet expansion and rejuvenation programme using the Dreamliner aircraft speaks for itself.

“The aircraft is incredibly popular with our passengers thanks to its many on-board features, as well as offering superior performance and being more environmentally friendly than older aircraft.

“To add to an aircraft order of these already substantial size is indicative of the growing profile and strong position of Air Europa in international aviation.”

Air Europa added its first Boeing 787-8 in 2016 and, since then has carried more than 2.5 million passengers in its Dreamliner fleet.

The airline company currently operates regularly with Dreamliners to Miami, Bogota, Santo Domingo, Lima, Tel Aviv, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.
