Lundgren to lead easyJet as McCall departs | News


UK-based low-cost carrier easyJet has confirmed it has appointed former TUI Group deputy chief executive Johan Lundgren as its new chief executive officer.

He will replace Carolyn McCall who will step down at the end of the month to lead ITV.

Lundgren will join the European budget airline on December 1st.

He also leaves his role as chief executive of the mainstream markets division at TUI.

McCall will step down as easyJet leader on November 30th but will remain with the company until the end of the year to assist with the transition.

“I and the easyJet board are delighted to announce Johan as our new chief executive officer.

“Johan has proven experience in European travel as chief executive officer and in broader group roles.

“He is strategic yet operationally focussed and has proved himself to be a customer-centric, charismatic and successful leader,” easyJet chairman John Barton said.
