Wyndham unveils plans for Lombok Sundancer Resort, Indonesia | News

Wyndham Hotel Group’s growth continues with the strategic expansion of its upscale Wyndham Hotels & Resorts brand into Indonesia’s spectacular Lombok Island, scheduled for opening in mid-2018.

The all-suite Wyndham Lombok Sundancer Resort is being developed by PT Wisata Bahagia Indonesia under a management agreement with PT Wyndham Hotel Management, an Indonesian subsidiary of Wyndham Hotel Group.

The signing follows Wyndham’s recent announcement of five newly acquired managed hotels under the upscale Wyndham Hotels & Resorts brand and upper-upscale Wyndham Grand brands in Bali and Palembang in Indonesia.

The company currently has more than 110 hotels throughout south-east Asia and the Pacific Rim with 11 hotels and resorts branded under its Wyndham Grand, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and Wyndham Garden flags.

An idyllic island in Indonesia’s West Nusa Tenggara province, Lombok is gaining international repute for its pristine beaches, spectacular diving, clear waters and challenging surf breaks, which are among the world’s best.

To the north of the island lies Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s second highest volcano, offering outdoor enthusiasts a scenic ascent to the peak with lush hiking trails leading to waterfalls, hot springs and a picturesque crater lake.

An increasing number of regional and domestic carriers now fly directly into Lombok International Airport, which is only a short 30-minute flight from Bali and two hours and 30 minutes from Singapore.

David Wray, vice president, acquisitions and development of Wyndham Hotel Group, south-east Asia and the Pacific Rim, said: “Aside from Bali, which continues to be a crowd favourite, Indonesia has plenty of spectacular destinations like Lombok that will excite adventure seeking travellers thanks to its unspoiled natural landscape.

“With an increasing number of direct flights into Lombok from Asia Pacific’s key gateway cities, we are certain the appeal of Lombok will continue to grow in the coming years.”

Wyndham Lombok Sundancer is set on 48 hectares of beachfront land in Southern Lombok and offers close proximity to one of the world’s most famous surfing breaks, Desert Point.

The all-suite resort will feature 66 one and two-bedroom suites with a living area overlooking the Lombok Straits and its surrounding islets.

The resort will offer a host of leisure facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, a 900-square metre pool with a swim-up bar and deep-water area for diving lessons.

A private beach club with a bar will be located on the beachfront as well as an outdoor activity provider offering water activities such as jet skiing, windsurfing and diving excursions.
