Roy Kinnear will step down as chief executive of Air Seychelles in December.
Staff at the Seychelles’ national carrier were informed of the resignation through a note from the chair of the carrier’s board, Jean Weeling-Lee, earlier.
Ireland-born Kinnear joined the national airline of Seychelles, a group of 115 islands in the western Indian Ocean, in July 2015.
Recognised as an expert in revenue management, he joined Air Seychelles from strategic partner Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways.
He had held the position of senior vice president of revenue management and planning at Etihad since 2011.
During his time at the airline, Air Seychelles was recognised as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline by the World Travel Awards.
In his note to the staff of Air Seychelles, Weeling-Lee said: “It is important that we stay focused on business priorities in the coming weeks and months ahead of us.”
Etihad has been the strategic partner of Air Seychelles since 2012 with a 40 per cent stake in the airline.
That year, Etihad invested $45 million in the Seychelles national carrier, after the airline which until then was wholly owned by the Seychelles government, ran into financial difficulties.
However, Etihad has itself been undergoing a shake-up in recent months, with Tony Douglas recently appointed as new group chief executive.
Previous group chief executive James Hogan left the airline after a series of investments went sour, including stake in the now bankrupt airberlin.
