Eurowings moves to offer airberlin pilots new job opportunities | News

Eurowings Group is continuing its growth course in European air traffic.

The Lufthansa Group’s low-cost airline will continue to grow strongly organically and recruit a large number of new employees immediately.

Eurowings has already hired more than 500 employees in recent weeks, including many flight attendants and pilots from the insolvent airberlin.

“We will now be offering a large number of additional jobs at our locations in Germany as well as in Austria and Spain,” said Eurowings chief executive Thorsten Dirks.

Specifically, Eurowings is seeking staff for its locations in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Stuttgart, Munich, Vienna, Salzburg and Palma de Mallorca.

Dirks added: “We are offering secure jobs on attractive terms with Europe’s fastest growing airline.”

In this case, applicants who are former employees of airberlin, including its subsidiaries, can go through a shortened selection process.

Eurowings will be holding three information events: in Vienna on December 19th and 20th and in Düsseldorf on December 21st.

A commitment to hire will be made at these events in cases where applicants can demonstrate their suitability.

Beyond organic growth, Eurowings is continuing its efforts to acquire Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter.

“We are prepared to give up a large number of slots to achieve approval from the EU Commission; we submitted our revised commitments in Brussels yesterday,” said Dirks.

As part of the planned acquisition of LGW, subject to approval by the competent EU Commission, the aim is for all of the company’s 870 employees to move over to Eurowings with their existing employment contracts.

Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter is a German regional airline headquartered in Dortmund.
