Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has added seven-time Emmy award-winning actress Allison Janney to its Rosewood Curators programme.

The carefully selected group of luminaries and leaders share travel recommendations and insider tips for Rosewood destinations around the world.

Janney joins Rosewood Curators on behalf of Rosewood Washington, DC, the portfolio’s luxurious urban retreat located in the capital’s idyllic Georgetown neighbourhood.

Born in Boston and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Janney made her foray into acting at Kenyon College where she performed in a play directed by the iconic actor, Paul Newman.

Upon graduating, she moved to New York to study acting at the acclaimed Neighbourhood Playhouse, later making her Broadway debut in the 1996 revival of Noël Coward’s, Present Laughter.

She went on to star in numerous films including Big Night and American Beauty, before landing the role of press secretary C.J. Cregg on the hit DC-based drama, The West Wing.

Janney was honoured with four Emmys and four Screen Actors Guild awards for her role in the show.

She currently stars in the hit comedy Mom which has earned her two more Emmys for her work, as well as being honoured with an Emmy for her role as Margaret Scully in Showtime’s hit drama, Masters of Sex.

While a walking tour of the National Mall is a must for most travellers visiting Washington, DC, Janney suggests enhancing this classic tour by exploring the monuments at night, when the smaller crowds and illuminated buildings make for a truly spectacular experience.

“DC is brimming with both electric energy and serene beauty.

“It is the bustling epicentre of American politics but also a picturesque destination, right on the water, covered in cherry blossom trees.

“L’Enfant’s design of the city, characterised by a stately elegance, gives the city a very European feel,” said Janney.
