UNWTO secretary general Zurab Pololikashvili has appointed Shanzhong Zhu to the role of executive director of UNWTO.
Zhu, a Chinese national, began his two-year term earlier this month.
He joined UNWTO in 2014 as executive director.
Shanzhong has a long track record in Chinese tourism.
A native of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, he was born in 1953.
From 2008-09 he was director of department of tourism promotion and international liaison at the National Tourism Administration.
From 2009-2013 he was deputy director of the National Tourism Administration.
