Virgin Atlantic and Flybe extended codeshare deal to Scotland | News

Scottish travellers now have more access to the USA and the Caribbean than ever before, thanks to Virgin Atlantic’s increased codeshare agreement with Flybe.

The latest addition to the partnership includes the Flybe route between Manchester and Glasgow, opening up all of Virgin Atlantic’s Manchester routes to customers travelling from the Scottish city for the first time as part of the codeshare.

Available to book now, seven long-haul Virgin Atlantic destinations are now available to even more Scottish customers,  whether that’s a beach holiday in Barbados, shopping in New York, partying in Las Vegas, or sightseeing in San Francisco.

The enhanced partnership means customers in Scotland are able to seamlessly connect between Virgin Atlantic and Flybe, with one boarding pass and their bags checked through for the entire journey.

Shai Weiss, chief commercial officer at Virgin Atlantic, commented: “Last year was the biggest ever for our Scottish customers, as we ran our longest ever season of direct flights to Orlando.

“In 2018 we’re taking our Scottish travel offering one step further.

“Thanks to our extended partnership with Flybe, holiday makers from Glasgow can now take advantage of our entire Manchester route network, meaning more flights to the USA and Caribbean than ever before. “

Virgin Atlantic currently flies to seven destinations from Manchester, including Atlanta, Barbados, Boston, Las Vegas, New York, Orlando and San Francisco.

The airline operates a mix of A330s and 747s from the city.

Roy Kinnear, Flybe chief commercial officer commented: “We are delighted that this latest extension of our valued codeshare partnership with Virgin will bring even more of the world closer to Scotland travellers.

“It gives both airlines increased network reach and reinforces our commitment to provide our customers with convenient seamless ‘One Stop to the World’ connections from their local airport.”

Last year, Virgin Atlantic announced that its Flybe partnership would also operate between Heathrow and Edinburgh and Aberdeen, allowing travellers access to the airline’s Heathrow routes and cementing its commitment to Scottish customers.
