The Faroe Islands’ newest boutique hotel – Hotel Havgrím – is situated on the shore of Úti við Strond on the island of Streymoy.
The property is just a stone’s throw from the historic fort of Skansin and within easy walking distance to the town centre and old part of Tórshavn, the capital.
Built in 1948, this stately house is like no other in the Faroe Islands, with the original owner and designer taking inspiration from his many sailing trips to Great Britain.
The location of the house is special, some would even say poetic, as the waves thunder against the rugged shores and the grassy mountains give a great sense of space and peace.
Newly renovated and recently opened, this seaside hotel is informal and relaxing, with an emphasis on personal service.
Lovingly-restored with the emphasis on preserving the original style and décor, the interior has been designed to reflect the history of the house, connecting its location with nature and the sea.
The 14 bedrooms take their inspiration from the fjord, with a colour palate influenced by the sea when calm and stormy, the fields and the ever-changing Faroese sky.
Bedroom options include the Commodore Suite, with bay views in all directions giving the feeling of sailing on the sea.
