Organisers of the 2018 Bali & Beyond Travel Fair are expecting record attendances at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre.
The fifth instalment of the event got underway today in the Badung regency, and will run until June 30th.
The target for this year fair is more than 4,000 participants – eclipsing the record attendance from 38 countries seen last year.
Buyers from more than 42 countries had registered earlier this month, with organisers also expecting press from around the world to attend the fair.
Industry sellers, buyers and media will converge on the popular Indonesian region to preview new products and revisit some of the iconic destinations, landmarks, history, culture and exhibits on offer.
The Bali & Beyond Travel Fair will reunite many international tourism industry leaders gathered for a series of speed-dating-style appointments.
The event will also feature sellers from China, India, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, as well as Middle Eastern and European countries.
Bali & Beyond
The trade show is part of a wider effort from the Indonesian ministry of tourism to spread the benefits of tourism over a wider geographical area.
The Beyond Bali initiative seeks to reduce the pressure on the existing tourism hotspot by promoting trips to Lake Toba, Tanjung Kelayang, Tanjung Lesung, Seribu Islands, the Borobudur, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru cluster, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Wakatobi and Morotai.
