Wizz Air has launched a new route from Birmingham Airport to Cluj International Airport in Romania, with seats on sale now.
The new service, which connects the second largest cities in Britain and Romania, will commence on December 16th.
With historic sites and buildings, a booming tech economy, a thriving nightlife scene, festivals of every variety and easy access to the Carpathian Mountains with their stunning natural attractions, there’s something for everyone in the vibrant city of Cluj.
Passengers from Birmingham can fly to six destinations in Poland, Hungary and Romania.
This year has been a year of massive growth for Wizz Air’s UK operations, following the launch of Wizz Air UK in May and the increase of its local UK fleet to eight Airbus aircraft.
The new service between Birmingham and Cluj brings the total number of new UK routes for 2018 to 14; London Luton to Larnaca, Tirana, Tallinn, Bratislava, Lviv, Athens, Keflavik, Eilat, Grenoble, Verona, Bari and Tromsø, and Doncaster Sheffield to Debrecen.
This year the company offers more than 8.7 million seats from nine UK airports, available on 76 routes, making it the third largest low-cost airline in the country.
Wizz Air chief corporate officer, Owain Jones, said: “Wizz Air continues to expand and invest in our UK operations, growing our network across the country.
“Cluj is an exciting new destination for our customers in the Midlands – the historic Transylvanian university city of culture and nightlife with a booming economy and easy access to the natural wonder of the Carpathian Mountains is an ideal choice for a city break with a difference.
“We’re proud that Wizz Air’s genuinely low fares give our UK customers the opportunity to explore many unique and interesting destinations and enjoy great service onboard one of Europe’s youngest and most efficient aircraft fleets.”
