Eva Air will be hosting its first half marathon event in Taipei on October 28th.
The event will give up to 20,000 runners from across the globe the chance to enjoy Taipei’s scenery and skyline as they compete in the half marathon, or shorter ten- and three-kilometre races.
Starting from 05:30 on Ketagalan Boulevard near to the JingFu Gate, the courses take runners past some of the Taipei’s most well-known and stunning sights, including the National Theatre, Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Keelung River, as the sun rises over the city.
Those entering at a half marathon level will be divided into 12 groups according to age and gender, with those completing the half marathon in the best time for their category winning up to NT$ 30,000.
On completion of the half marathon race, runners will receive a medal and electronic certificate to commemorate their achievement, as well as a towel and storage bag.
Clay Sun, Eva Air president, said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting this event, which offers runners from all over the world the opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty of Taipei in a very different way.
“We hope that this event encourages even more people to visit the city and enjoy all that it has to offer.
“EVA Air is an exceptionally proud supporter of sports, sponsoring the likes of golf, tennis and badminton, and, as announced in June, West Ham United Football Club.”
The event is being organised in collaboration with Chinese Taipei Culture, Leisure & Sport Association, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism, as well as Chinese Taipei Road Running Association, and is IAAF and AIMS certified.
