Balearic Islands grows off-peak visitor numbers | News

From November 2017 to March 2018, the Balearic Islands saw a 24.91 per cent increase in visitors from the UK compared to the winter season running from November 2016 to March 2017.

The figures highlight a growing appetite for travel to the islands outside of the peak season.

Some 146,841 UK visitors travelled to the Balearic Islands in the winter of 2017/2018, compared to 117,562 during the winter of 2016/2017.

The increase in visitors during the shoulder season stands in line with the Balearic Islands Tourism Board’s tourism strategy, which aims to promote travel to the islands during the winter months.

The ‘Better in Winter’ strategy places emphasis on the advantages of travelling to the islands of Menorca, Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera at a quieter, more authentic time of the year and promotes the region as more than just a sea and sun destination.
