Finnish flag-carrier Finnair is to introduce a new premium economy cabin for customers as part of a major investment in on-board improvements.
The investment package will also see all the cabins of the airline’s domestic and regional ATR turbo prop aircraft completely overhauled, with new seats, carpets and a refreshed interior.
The cabin enhancements are part of Finnair’s on-going commitment to offer a high level of customer comfort and increased choice, with new ATR cabins being unveiled next year and the new long-haul premium economy cabin making its debut in 2021.
Piia Karhu, Finnair senior vice president, customer experience, said: “We see a growing trend of quality focused travellers who place a strong focus on the comfort and quality of their travel experience.
“Finnair is responding to our customers in each of our key markets and believe our new Premium Economy class will serve both our leisure and corporate customers
“We also want our customers to get a fresh Nordic experience on our regional flights.
“The regional feeder traffic is a very important part of the Finnair network, with over 30,000 ATR flights every year.”
Located in its own private cabin, Finnair’s premium economy will feature highly customised designs and provide customers with increased space and comfort along with an enhanced service offering.
Planning of the cabin design, service concept and its commercial positioning are currently underway with more detail to be released in due course.
Finnair’s ATR aircraft are currently used for domestic flights in Finland, on flights to the Baltics, to Gdansk in Poland and to Stockholm’s Bromma airport.
The flights are operated by Finnair’s partner Norra.
