Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has announced the start of construction on a flagship adventure tourism product.
The Jebel Jais zipline tour will be located at the Toroverde Adventure Park on the United Arab Emirates’ highest mountain.
The new project will add another world-class attraction to the emirate’s expanding adventure tourism portfolio, while further strengthening its position as one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in the region.
Operated by Toroverde Adventure Park, the new aerial rides will add to the existing Jebel Jais Flight – the longest zipline in the world at over 2.8 kilometres.
The launch of the new adventure park is a testament of Ras Al Khaimah’s ongoing efforts to expand and develop its adventure tourism offering in what is fast becoming known as the region’s adventure tourism hub.
With international markets accounting for 66 per cent of overall visitors in the first half of 2018, the emirate is on the right track to capitalise on the global adventure tourism industry through the introduction of new and innovative products with both local and international appeal.
Haitham Mattar, chief executive of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said: “We are pleased to announce the commencement of construction on the new Adventure Park on Jebel Jais, as it recognises a sector of our tourism proposition that is fundamental to the growth of Ras Al Khaimah as a global destination.
“With the increasing number of visitors we are witnessing year-on-year, we believe that the introduction of new attractions is essential to maintain Ras Al Khaimah’s strong position on the world tourism map.
“Launching the new Adventure Park in the first half of 2019 will bring us one step closer to becoming an internationally recognised destination, as we aim to attract three million visitors by 2025,” added Mattar.
The Bull Maze at the Viewing Deck Park launching in quarter two of next year, will consist of a field of 35 difficult obstacles suspended in the air, distributed in three floors of a 20 metres height structure that will challenge each participant to face their limits.
The Climbing Tower at the Viewing Deck Park, will feature activities ranging from easy climbs for kids to spiral stairs and exciting free falls utilizing the latest technology to test the abilities of extreme thrill seekers.
Ricardo Lizano, chief executive of Toroverde commented: “We are excited to commence construction on three new exhilarating experiences: the Zipline Tour, scheduled to launch in February 2019, will feature seven ziplines flying over Jebel Jais from top to bottom, which are connected by hanging bridges, rappel style cables, and creatively designed platforms resembling bird’s nests to give an exceptional feeling of closeness to nature.”
