easyJet to expands operations at London Southend Airport next summer | News

easyJet has announced it will operate four new routes to Bordeaux, Prague, and Dubrovnik and Pula in Croatia from London Southend Airport in 2018.

Bordeaux will start on July 25th and operates three times a week.

Prague will follow on July 27th with a twice weekly service.

The two Croatian summer favourites of Pula and Dubrovnik will start on July 27th and July 28th respectively and will also operate twice weekly.

The new routes mean easyJet now flies to 20 destinations from London Southend Airport – the airline is expecting to fly around 32,000 passengers between the destinations and LSA next summer.

Sophie Dekkers, director, UK Market, easyJet, said “We’re delighted to be adding four new summer routes from London Southend Airport.

“This announcement of our expansion today highlights our commitment to providing affordable routes to summer holiday destinations.

“We’re sure that they will prove extremely popular for those looking for a summer break or visiting friends and family.”

She added: “Whether our customers want to sample the historic city culture of Prague, the guaranteed sun hot-spots of Dubrovnik and Pula or to make the short hop to the southern French port city famed for its red wine, Bordeaux – we expect all our new routes to be especially popular with passengers and it also underlines our commitment to LSA.”

easyJet has seen sustained expansion at London Southend Airport in recent months having launched its first flight to Malta in October and introduced an additional Airbus A320 aircraft for next summer – the fourth aircraft to be based at London Southend.

Glyn Jones, chief executive of London Southend Airport owners Stobart Aviation, said: “I am sure these new easyJet destinations will prove very popular with passengers from Essex and the south-east – thanks to our partnership with easyJet, and other airlines, we now have a fantastic mix of more than 30 leisure and business destinations for people to explore.

“We’re also thrilled that the UK’s largest airline is investing in a fourth aircraft at London Southend Airport.

“It’s proof of our strong partnership with easyJet and demonstrates their continued confidence and commitment to providing an exemplary service for our passengers.

“We currently serve over one million passengers a year with more and more people realising that we are a better way to travel.”
